Job summary

Brandt is seeking a Resident Heavy Equipment Technician based in Elk Valley, Cranbrook. The role focuses on repair and maintenance of construction, forestry and mining equipment in a shop environment, with a 7 days on/7 days off shift pattern.

The position requires knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems, a relevant trade qualification is preferred and at least 3 years of experience. Proficiency with diagnostic tools and strong customer-service skills are expected.

Qualifications

• Ability to operate forklift.
• Trade qualification (Heavy Equipment, Agriculture, Truck/Transport, Automotive) considered as asset.
• Minimum 3 years relevant experience.
• Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
• Strong diagnostic skills for equipment repair.
• Comfort with computer-based diagnostics and calibration work.
• Excellent time management and communication skills.
• Commitment to high quality customer service.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate working condition of equipment, diagnose, disassemble/assemble, order parts, and repair in a shop setting.
• Use related instruments, hand and power tools, and auxiliary equipment safely and effectively.
• Document on work orders all machine information, actions taken and time.
• Ensure tasks are performed safely and to standards.
• Use John Deere Service Advisor and other systems to document maintenance, inspection and diagnosis.
• Locate parts from catalogs and order parts as needed.
• Road test equipment and check attachment operation when required.

Brandt is currently seeking a Resident Heavy Equipment Technician for our Construction & Forestry based in Elk Valley, reporting to the our Cranbrook branch. This position is responsible for the repair and maintenance of construction and forestry and mining based equipment and attachments in a shop environment. Note: The shift schedule for this position is 7 days on, 7 days off

What You Will Be Responsible For

• Efficiently and effectively evaluate the working condition of, diagnose, assemble/disassemble, order parts for, and repair equipment
• Use secondary materials and equipment safely and efficiently
• Use related instruments, hand and power tools, secondary equipment, and computer systems
• Accurately and completely document on work orders all machine information, actions taken, and time taken
• Continually assess service task hazards and ensure work is performed safely, and to accepted standards
• Use computer applications and information systems (i.e. John Deere Service Advisor) to document maintenance, inspection, and diagnosis
• Use parts catalogues to locate parts, and order parts from parts personnel
• Road test equipment and check attachment operation as required

What We Look For

• Ability to operate Forklift. Trade qualification (Heavy Equipment, Agriculture, Truck/Transport, Automotive) considered as asset. 3 years' relevant experience.
• Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
• Possess computer and technical aptitude and knowledge for diagnostics and calibration work.
• Possess diagnostic skills to understand mechanical and technical equipment repair needs.
• Possess strong time management skills to perform under pressure.
• Possess strong communication skills, both written and oral.
