Job summary

Sport Chek is seeking a Service Shop Technician to interact with customers, assess needs, and set up, repair, and maintain sporting equipment. You’ll help athletes get back to action while following safety standards and manufacturer specifications.

You’ll perform bicycle assembly, wheel work, brake maintenance, and other repairs, delivering exceptional service to help the team reach performance targets. Benefits include compensation, incentives, and product discounts.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months of bike shop experience.
• Experience repairing and servicing bikes, skis or snowboards.
• Previous bike building experience.

Job Description

As a Service Shop Technician, you’re as good with people as you are with your hands. After all, it’s your job to interact with customers, assess their needs, and then setup, repair, and maintain their sporting equipment. In helping athletes get back to living “The Power of Sport”, all safety measures will be taken to ensure their equipment is serviced to the manufacturer’s specifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Assembling/disassembling different types of bicycles
• Wheel building, wheel truing, tire changing
• Crank arm replacement, change derailleurs, headset overhaul, chain check and replacement
• Changing brakes, brake and shift levers, cables
• Deliver exceptional customer experience to support your team in achieving performance targets

Required Skills and Knowledge

• Minimum 6 months of previous work experience in a bike shop
• Some, Intermediate, or Advanced experience working on repairing and servicing bikes, skis or snowboards
• Previous bike building experience

Our typical hiring range is between $18.60 and $26.00 per hour. Salary decisions are also dependent on other factors such as your experience, job-related knowledge, skills and competencies, store size and market location, industry benchmarks, internal equity and other role-specific requirements.
