Job summary

The Independent Grocers Alliance in Knowlton, Quebec is seeking a service manager to lead daily operations in our IGA Knowlton department. You will manage purchasing, inventory, pricing, and staff performance to meet sales and service goals.

You have at least 2 years in retail or service management, a high school diploma or college degree, and knowledge of POS systems. This role offers growth opportunities and a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications

• 2 years experience in a retail or service department.
• Management experience and knowledge of point of sale computer systems.
• Willingness to lead and develop a team.

Responsibilities

• Manage purchasing, inventory, PLU price lists and meet sales per hour per person.
• Develop and enforce policies and procedures and ensure OH&S standards are followed.
• Select, train, evaluate and motivate team members.
• Handle cash register accounting activities (money transfers, deposits, controls, weekly verifications).

What might a typical day look like?

As a department manager, you will :

• manage purchasing, inventory, P.L.U. price lists and meet sales per hour/person to ensure business readiness;
• develop and manage policies and procedures, adhere to government hygiene and occupational health and safety standards and ensure that they are consistently applied and adhered to by all department employees
• selects, trains, evaluates and motivates the members of his or her team, surrounding them with competent people;
• carry out the various operations related to the accounting of the cash registers (money transfers, deposits, controls, weekly verifications, etc.)
