Job summary

Independent Grocers Alliance in Canada is seeking a Service Manager to lead a department and drive day-to-day operations, including purchasing, inventory, and pricing lists to meet sales goals.

Candidates should have 2 years of experience in retail or service, plus a high school diploma or college degree, management experience, and knowledge of point-of-sale systems.

Responsibilities

• Select, train, evaluate and motivate team members, ensuring competent personnel.
• Carry out cash register accounting tasks (money transfers, deposits, controls, weekly verifications, etc.).

What might a typical day look like?

As a department manager, you will :

• manage purchasing, inventory, P.L.U. price lists and meet sales per hour/person to ensure business readiness;
• develop and manage policies and procedures, adhere to government hygiene and occupational health and safety standards and ensure that they are consistently applied and adhered to by all department employees
• selects, trains, evaluates and motivates the members of his or her team, surrounding them with competent people;
• carry out the various operations related to the accounting of the cash registers (money transfers, deposits, controls, weekly verifications, etc.)
