Job summary

Black & McDonald Limited seeks an experienced Service Boiler technician for our Saskatoon, SK service division. You will perform maintenance, diagnose boiler systems, and document work using our mobile app, working solo or in teams with a focus on safety and customer service.

The role expects hands-on technical ability, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn; union affiliation may be required. Training will be provided to support career growth.

Qualifications

• Red Seal Plumbing or Refrigeration trade qualification required.
• B-Gas, Cross Connection, or A-Gas certifications are assets.
• WHMIS, SCOTT, R&R, mobile platform, fall protection and confined space training assets.
• Relevant industry experience required; willingness to learn and adapt.

Responsibilities

• Perform planned maintenance on commercial plumbing and heating equipment (boilers, pumps, hot water tanks).
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair commercial boiler systems.
• Complete daily service reports using the company mobile app.
• Work autonomously or in teams to complete tasks on time.
• Communicate clearly with customers, suppliers, and team members via phone, text, and email.
• Participate in rotating 24/7 emergency on-call supports.

ABOUT THIS CAREER OPPORTUNITY

Black & McDonald is currently seeking an experienced Service Boiler tech to join our Service Division in Saskatoon, SK! If you are a hands-on, customer service-oriented, and technically inclined professional searching for the opportunity to build a solid foundation for your career, this position is for you. The Service Technician position is located in Saskatoon, SK and will report directly to the Service Supervisor. The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate a strong work ethic, willingness to learn, a great attitude, and a genuine passion for the trade. Service Plumbers are required to be skilled in all manner of pipe joining methods; comfortable with the use of common industry specific hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic tools; and adept at reading and interpreting technical literature. Day to day work may sometimes require long hours and lifting heavy loads. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

• Perform planned maintenance activities on commercial plumbing and heating equipment. (Not limited to Boilers, Pumps, Hot Water Tanks)
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair commercial boiler systems.
• Complete daily service reports documenting maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair activities including service and repair recommendations using B&M mobile service reporting application.
• Work either autonomously or in teams to complete work efficiently, on time.
• Communicate clearly and effectively with customers, suppliers, and team members via phone, text, email, and mobile applications.
• Participation in rotating 24/7 emergency on call supports.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

• Red Seal Plumbing or Refrigeration Trade Qualification or apprentice that can work alone
• B-Gas Certification is considered an asset
• Cross Connection Control Certification is considered an asset
• A-Gas Certification is considered an asset
• WHIMIS, SCOTT, R&R, Mobile Aerial Platform Training, Fall Protection Training, Confined Space Training is considered an asset

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• Relevant Industry Experience (Required)

SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

• Clean Class 5 SK Driver’s License and abstract
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
