Job summary

Rush Truck Centres of Canada, part of Rush Enterprises, is seeking a Service Advisor in Ontario to schedule service repairs, monitor progress, and communicate with customers throughout the repair process.

You will provide written cost estimates, prepare service orders, and ensure safety regulations are followed. The role includes potential cross-training as a parts counter person and requires a valid driver’s license and a clean background check.

Qualifications

  • Experience in heavy truck, automotive or related industry preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Criminal Record Check and valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule service appointments and monitor repair progress.
  • Provide customers with written repair estimates and timeframes.
  • Describe symptoms and required repairs to prepare service orders.
  • Record customer signatures and payment method; obtain credit approvals as needed.
  • Explain completed work and charges to customers; close repair orders.
  • Cross train as a parts counter person.

Reporting to the Service Manager, the Service Advisor is responsible for scheduling service repair work and following the progress of repairs throughout the shift.

Responsibilites
  • Ensure compliance of all Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) regulations, as well as the Company’s Health and Safety Policy.
  • Scheduling service appointments.
  • Provides customers with complete and accurate written cost estimates, establish time require to complete work.
  • Prepares orders by describing symptoms, problems, and causes discovered, as well as repairs and service required.
  • Obtain customer signature on repair orders.
  • Establish customer method of payment.
  • Obtain credit approvals.
  • Check on progress of repairs and contact customers regarding changes in estimate or promised time.
  • Review and close repair orders.
  • Explain completed work and all charges to customers
  • Cross trained as a parts counter person.
  • Complies with all relevant Health & Safety, and Environmental policies and procedures.
  • Expected to have a positive attitude and promote a healthy work environment.
  • Other related duties as assigned by management from time to time.
Basic Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent. College or post-secondary education is preferred.
  • Previous experience in Heavy Truck, Automotive or related industry experience preferred.
  • Competency in the following areas required; customer service, administrative skills, team building, proficiency with software and computers.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and customer focus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • SAP experience is an asset
  • Criminal Record Check.
  • Valid driver’s license and Drivers Abstract.
