Job summary

Optima Living in Western Canada is seeking a Recreation Manager to lead and deliver resident wellness and engagement programs, based on seven dimensions of wellness. You will develop diverse activities, foster a safe, inclusive, and stimulating environment.

Reporting to the General Manager, you will supervise the recreation team, manage budgets, coordinate with care staff, and collaborate with community resources to enhance quality of life for residents.

Qualifications

• Graduate from a recognized Therapeutic Recreation, Recreation & Leisure Studies, Gerontology, Health Sciences program or diploma or degree in health and wellness activities.
• Minimum of one (1) year leadership experience in a residential care or mental health environment is required.
• Maintains a valid Class 4 driver’s license and CPR/First Aid certification.

Responsibilities

• Provides leadership, support, guidance and mentorship to the recreation team.
• Oversees daily routines to meet residents’ needs and conducts team meetings.
• Ensures compliance with Occupational Health and Safety regulations and safety of the environment.
• Develops diverse programs across social, physical, intellectual, emotional, vocational, environmental and spiritual wellness.
• Coordinates and leverages community resources for recreation opportunities.
• Participates in resident and family engagement and care conferences.
