Job description

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Water Resources Engineer to join our dynamic Water Resources team. This role involves the design, analysis, and reporting of stormwater management systems with a focus on subdivision development projects. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills, be capable of mentoring junior team members, and effectively coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead stormwater strategy direction for all projects and provide sound engineering solutions
  • Preparation and final review of stormwater management sections of design reports (FSR, MESP, due diligence, detailed design, etc)
  • Monitor and manage project deliverables including critical path analysis to ensure deadlines are met
  • Monitor and manage water resources staff and workload to ensure project deadlines and deliverables are met
  • Oversee coordination with internal team members and other project professionals (environmental, fluvial, Geotech, etc)
  • Provide mentorship, leadership and guidance to junior staff, including competing annual performance reviews
  • Make inquiries, gather project specific design information (reports, drawings, etc), and extract specific stormwater management information relevant to the project
  • Prepare project stormwater modelling including model set up, initial run and design iterations; provide feedback to junior water resources team members on modelling works and define next steps for modelling
  • Prepare and/or review stormwater management quantity and quality controls including outlet structure sizing; prepare/review design of water balance, volume control and phosphorus budget control features
  • Review design comments, and provide final review of comment responses

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering with a focus on Water Resources.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer specializing in water resources and stormwater management design with advanced knowledge and experience in subdivision design
  • Minimum five (5) years in water resources engineering and minimum two (2) years in stormwater management design for subdivisions and site plan development
  • Minimum two (2) years experience in a management role supporting junior staff
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly organized, self-driven, and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Skills:

  • Strong stormwater modelling skills with proficiency in HECRAS and PCSWMM
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Knowledgeable in design of storm sewers, sanitary sewers, roads, lot grading, earthworks and stormwater management
  • Familiar with design standards and municipal criteria
  • Self-motivated, independent and driven
