Job summary

Job description

The associated stormwater management services include Master Drainage Plans, Stormwater Management Reports and design of Stormwater Management facilities and infrastructure with a focus on low impact development (LID) techniques and protecting the natural environment.

What you’ll be doing:

As a successful candidate, your responsibility will involve working closely with design engineers in the office to undertake functional level design with respect to site servicing and grading as well as detailed design of stormwater management facilities for both private and public clients. Examples of specific duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting with preparation of master and functional servicing studies in support of secondary plans, draft plans and site plans;
  • Undertaking detailed studies, calculations and modeling associated with stormwater management facilities, low impact development measures, creek crossings and floodplain mapping and modifications for all types of land development projects;
  • Writing reports and design briefs and pursuing approvals from agencies; and
  • Liaising with clients, conservation authorities and federal, provincial, regional and municipal agencies to review their needs or address comments with respect to servicing and stormwater management aspects of development projects during secondary plan, draft plan and detailed design stages.

What we’re looking for from you:

  • Civil Engineering or Civil Technology Degree or Diploma;
  • Someone who is interested in pursuing a career in the Consulting Engineering Industry;
  • Self-motivated, willing to learn, and demonstrate a high level of inter-personal and communication skills;
  • A bright, enthusiastic individual is needed who can bring "outside the box" thinking to problem-solving discussions in finding solutions to meet client needs;
  • Should possess experience in construction, land development engineering and be familiar with municipal servicing and grading design, as it relates to new residential and commercial developments; and
  • Familiar with stormwater modelling software such as HEC-RAS, Visual Otthymo, and PCSWMM, extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and AutoCAD Civil 3D, would be an asset, although training will be provided.
