Job summary

The Ian Martin Group seeks a Senior UX/UI Power Platform Specialist to lead the design, development, and continuous improvement of business applications within the Microsoft Power Platform.

This hands-on role blends UX/UI design, application development, workflow automation, accessibility, and stakeholder collaboration. You will translate business requirements into intuitive, accessible solutions, mentor teammates, and help establish UX/UI and development standards, including AODA compliance.

Qualifications

• Extensive hands-on experience with the Microsoft Power Platform including Power Apps, Power Automate, Dataverse and Copilot.
• Experience designing complex business applications using Microsoft Power Platform.
• Strong experience applying user-centred design (UCD) principles to architectures and interfaces.

Senior UX/UI Power Platform Specialist

• Pay Rate: Flexible- Hybrid
• Location: Toronto, Ontario
• Contract Length: 6 Months

We are looking for a Senior UX/UI Power Platform Specialist to lead the design, development, and continuous improvement of business applications built within the Microsoft Power Platform environment.

This is a hands-on technical role that combines UX/UI design, application development, workflow automation, accessibility, and stakeholder collaboration. You will work closely with Business Analysts, subject matter experts, users, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements and user needs into intuitive, accessible, and effective application solutions.

The successful candidate will bring strong experience across Power Apps, Power Automate, Dataverse, and Copilot, along with a solid understanding of user-centred design, accessibility, design thinking, and application development best practices.

You will also play a key role in establishing UX/UI and application development standards, mentoring team members, and ensuring applications meet AODA accessibility requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and deployment of complex business applications using the TW ITM Development Environment and Microsoft Power Platform.
• Design intuitive and effective user interfaces and application experiences based on user needs, business objectives, design standards, and technical constraints.
• Collaborate with Business Analysts, SMEs, users, and other stakeholders to understand and translate business requirements into practical application solutions.
• Develop and manage application workflows that streamline and automate business processes.
• Create prototypes, mock-ups, user stories, personas, and other UX deliverables to validate concepts and support application development.
• Apply user-centred design (UCD), design thinking, and UX principles throughout the application development lifecycle.
• Lead design and development workshops focused on ensuring applications meet AODA accessibility requirements.
• Coach and mentor team members on UX/UI development, design principles, accessibility, and best practices.
• Conduct code and solution reviews to promote adherence to UX/UI, development, accessibility, and technical standards.
• Review, assess, and resolve technical issues, implementing and documenting appropriate solutions.
• Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of application development and UX/UI standards.
• Work within an Agile/Scrum environment and contribute to the software development lifecycle from requirements through deployment.

QUALIFICATION

Technical Experience

• Extensive hands-on experience with the Microsoft Power Platform, including:
  • Power Apps
  • Power Automate
  • Dataverse
  • Copilot
• Experience designing and implementing complex business applications using Microsoft Power Platform.
• Strong experience developing user interface specifications based on client research, design standards, industry best practices, business objectives, user needs, and system constraints.
• Demonstrated experience applying user-centred design (UCD) principles to application architecture and user interfaces.
• Extensive experience implementing software solutions that comply with AODA accessibility requirements.
• Experience developing application workflows and process automation.
• Experience troubleshooting technical issues, identifying root causes, implementing solutions, and documenting outcomes.
• Experience conducting code/solution reviews and applying development best practices.

UX/UI & Design Experience

• Strong understanding of UX/UI principles and practices.
• Experience with user research and requirements gathering involving diverse stakeholders, SMEs, users, and Business Analysts.
• Ability to translate business and user needs into prototypes, mock-ups, user stories, personas, and application designs.
• Experience applying design thinking and user-centred methodologies to real-world application development.
• Understanding of high-level UX concepts, including:

Education & Certifications

• University degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Microsoft Power Platform development certifications are preferred/required as applicable.

Delivery & Leadership

• Experience working within an Agile software development lifecycle (SDLC).
• Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodology.
• Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor other team members.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

DELIVERABLES

• UX/UI and application design workshops to ensure TW ITM applications meet AODA requirements and established UX standards.
• Prototypes of TW applications within the Microsoft Power Platform development environment.
• User-focused application designs that effectively translate business requirements into intuitive and accessible experiences.
• Contributions to application development standards and UX/UI guidelines.
• Technical assessment, troubleshooting, resolution, and documentation of application issues.
• Coaching and guidance to team members on UX/UI development, Power Platform, accessibility, and best practices.
