Job summary

SkyCan Systems invites an experienced Senior UAV Airframe & Aerodynamics Designer to lead conceptual and preliminary UAV configurations, sizing, geometry, and trade studies. You will build aero datasets and assess propulsion placement impacts while coordinating with mechanical, hardware and software teams on multi-program projects.

You will drive weight budgets, CG envelopes, and 6-DOF model inputs, supporting both electric and combustion architectures and ensuring airworthiness awareness within

Qualifications

• 7–12 years in aircraft conceptual design, aerodynamics, or performance engineering.
• Experience taking a configuration from concept through preliminary design.
• Security: Eligible for CGP security assessment; CGP registration or security clearance is an asset.
• Education: MASc or BASc in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field; P.Eng is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Lead conceptual and preliminary UAV configuration design across SkyCan's platform programs.
• Generate aerodynamic models and aero databases; assess aero impacts of propulsion placement and payloads.
• Model range, endurance, climb, cruise, and payload-range tradeoffs across propulsion architectures.
• Own weight and balance calculations; define CG envelope and mass budgets; coordinate interfaces.
• Support 6-DOF flight dynamics model with aero and performance data; assist in GNC development.
• Evaluate propulsion-airframe integration for electric and combustion architectures by program.
• Coordinate with Airframe & Mechanical, Hardware, and Software & Perception teams across projects.
