Job summary

Volatus Aerospace in Vaughan, Canada, is seeking a Controls & Dynamics Engineer to advance UAV flight behaviour across configurations and operating conditions. You will work with avionics, software, and test teams to improve stability, control response, and mission performance through modelling, simulation, and hands-on tuning.

The role requires a strong background in flight dynamics, control systems, and embedded software, plus experience with MATLAB/Simulink and C/C++.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of flight and load dynamics, feedback control, and stability analysis.
• Experience with system identification and signal processing.
• Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink and Python for analysis.
• Familiarity with autopilot architectures and real-time control systems.

Responsibilities

• Tune flight control loops to improve stability and tracking accuracy.
• Develop guidance strategies for take-off, hover, and landing.
• Model aircraft and payload dynamics and assess control strategies.
• Conduct modelling, simulation, and hardware-in-the-loop testing.
• Analyze flight logs and telemetry to diagnose issues and verify tuning.
