Job description

Web4You Inc. is developing advanced Canadian uncrewed aerial systems for public-safety, industrial and defence-related applications. We are seeking a hands-on UAV Assembly and Electronics Technician to support prototype development, system integration, testing and small-batch production.

This position is suitable for an experienced technician or a highly motivated recent graduate or postgraduate student in electronics, mechatronics, aerospace, robotics or a related discipline.

The successful candidate will work closely with our UAV pilot and Engineering team. This is a practical workshop position requiring accuracy, patience, strong troubleshooting ability and careful documentation.

01 Responsibilities
  • Assemble UAV mechanical, electrical and electronic components according to drawings, instructions and bills of materials.
  • Install and connect motors, electronic speed controllers, flight controllers, communication equipment, sensors and related components.
  • Build, inspect and organize wiring harnesses, connectors and electronic assemblies.
  • Perform soldering, crimping, continuity testing and basic electrical measurements.
  • Configure hardware and load approved firmware and system settings.
  • Conduct pre-power, ground and functional inspections using established checklists.
  • Assist the UAV pilot and engineers with ground testing and controlled flight-test preparation.
  • Identify assembly problems, component defects and documentation gaps.
  • Record component serial numbers, configuration versions, test results and rework.
  • Maintain accurate build records for every aircraft.
  • Follow engineering-change, quality-control and workplace-safety procedures.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, parts and an organized assembly area.
  • Communicate directly with engineers to resolve technical questions.
  • Support continuous improvement of assembly instructions and production processes.
02 Required Skills & Experience
  • Diploma, degree or postgraduate education in electronics, electrical engineering technology, mechatronics, robotics, aerospace, avionics or a related field.
  • Practical experience assembling electronic or electromechanical systems.
  • Soldering, wiring, connector and crimping skills.
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams, technical drawings and assembly instructions.
  • Familiarity with multimeters and standard electronic test equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to documentation.
  • Ability to diagnose problems systematically and communicate findings clearly.
  • Ability to work independently while following approved procedures.
  • Ability to work primarily on-site.
03 Nice to Have
  • Experience building, maintaining or repairing UAVs, RC aircraft or robotic systems.
  • Familiarity with flight controllers and UAV configuration software.
  • Experience with PX4, ArduPilot, INAV or similar platforms.
  • Experience with CAD files, 3D-printed components or composite structures.
  • Experience with lithium battery systems and safe battery-handling procedures.
  • Familiarity with inventory control, BOM management or small-batch production.
  • Experience in aerospace, automotive, robotics, electronics manufacturing or another quality-controlled environment.
  • Transport Canada drone pilot certification is an asset but not required.
04 What We're Looking For & What We Offer

We’re looking for someone who is hands-on, reliable, and comfortable working with both mechanical and electronic components.

The right candidate should be detail-oriented, quality-focused, able to follow documented procedures carefully, and confident asking questions when requirements are unclear.

Join an advanced Canadian UAV development program and gain hands-on experience across prototype development, system integration, testing, and production. You’ll work directly with experienced engineers and UAV pilots while receiving practical training and technical guidance. This role also offers the opportunity to contribute to the development of a new small-batch UAV production operation and grow alongside an expanding aerospace R&D program.
