Job summary

Metrolinx in Mississauga is seeking a skilled Training Instructor for bus and heavy-vehicle maintenance. You will design and deliver classroom and hands-on sessions, evaluate trainees, and mentor staff across unionized, supervisory and management levels.

This role requires CZ license through internal program, CTDP/310T/310S certification, and a degree in Business Admin or Adult Learning. You will develop training materials, stay current with maintenance techniques, and travel between garages.

Qualifications

• Experience in bus/heavy vehicle maintenance with instructional design and adult learning principles.
• CZ license obtained through internal training program.
• Experience in Garage/Shop or public transit environments.
• CTDP or 310T/310S certification required.
• Postsecondary degree in Business Administration, Adult Learning, Education, or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of bus maintenance: electrical systems, engines, transmissions, brakes and HVAC.
• Additional certifications in HVAC, Electrical or Engines are assets.
• Experience developing manuals, presentations and hands-on training modules.
• Knowledge of adult learning principles and applying them to training development.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Conduct classroom and practical training on bus maintenance systems.
• Perform practical and written assessments to evaluate trainee understanding.
• Deliver training to unionized staff as well as supervisory and management.
• Demonstrate maintenance procedures on buses or training equipment with focus on safety.
• Demonstrate proper use of tooling and safety practices.
• Provide on-the-job training and mentor students with targeted improvement programs.
• Stay updated with latest maintenance techniques, tools and technologies.
• Support development and design of training materials, manuals and modules.
• Support staff skills matrix development and targeted delivery.
• Collaborate with maintenance management to identify training needs and create solutions.
• Utilize multimedia tools to enhance understanding and engagement.
• Foster a culture of continuous learning among maintenance personnel.
