Job description

Our Audio-Visual team focuses on designing, installing, and maintaining complex AV solutions for our clients. As a Lead AV Technician with Paladin Technologies, you will be responsible for reviewing, understanding, analyzing, and implementing installation plans from our Design, Sales, and Project Management Team. Reporting into a Project Manager or Foreman, you will be responsible for mentoring and supervising junior Technicians. This position requires the ability and technical knowledge to complete installations, understand the BOM, and be capable of adjusting as needed to meet client satisfaction.

A typical day could see you working on a variety of commercial installations including hospitals, airports, corporate offices, and casinos to name just a few.

Role and Responsibilities

1. Lead the installation and servicing of cabling infrastructure and audio/visual devices including pre-wiring, installation, termination, testing, reporting, and labeling per specifications and drawings.
2. Lead the installation of audio/visual equipment including audio and video conferencing equipment, distributed audio, digital signage, sound reinforcement, control systems, and all presentation systems.
3. Lead system programming and commissioning through the use of Crestron Toolbox, Extron Toolbelt, and Tesira software to establish a connection with devices.
4. Set device IDs and IP addresses, maintain and update spreadsheets for programmers.
5. Organize and maintain efficiency with onsite activities and goals, keep the project team motivated.
6. Mentor, coach, and train other Technicians.
7. Load program files and update firmware for various devices.
8. Build racks and implement strong cable management practices.
9. Read and interpret system diagrams and construction drawings.
10. Ensure safety and incident reporting procedures are followed.
11. Complete administrative duties including project updates to Project Managers, and filing all project documentation.
12. You may be required to be “on-call” outside of regular hours or on days off.
13. Build relationships with clients and prospects for future opportunities.

Required Qualifications

• Progressive experience installing and maintaining complex Audio-Visual systems in a commercial environment.
• 5 or more years of experience in an AV technician role.
• Flexibility to work in various environments, from construction sites to finished corporate offices.
• Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certifications such as Primeview, CTS, CTS-I, Extron AV associate, Biamp Tesira Forte, Biamp AV Lab, Crestron Professional Installation preferred.
• Experience in hospitality, healthcare, and/or post-secondary industries preferred.
• Skills such as adaptability, accountability, service orientation, innovation, and ongoing technical knowledge development.

Physical Demands

• Regularly required to stand, climb, walk, sit, push, pull, squat, crawl, and stoop. Use hands for handling objects and typing. Reach with arms; talk and hear. Specific vision abilities include close, distance, and depth perception, and focus adjustment. Power tools may be used. Occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds and work at heights over 1.8m (6 feet).

Working Conditions

• Exposure to outdoor weather, construction sites, travel, office environments, and construction equipment. Moderate noise levels. May require confined space entry and working at heights.
