Job summary

Elastic is seeking a technical lead/principal engineer to architect and guide the agent layer and distributed deployments. You will drive architectural decisions, review code, and mentor teams to achieve high standards.

Collaboration with stakeholders and product management will shape feature priorities and timelines. The role emphasizes deep observability experience, Go proficiency, and the ability to balance multiple projects.

Qualifications

• Must have proven experience as a technical lead or principal engineer on a large agent or systems-level project.
• Deep knowledge of observability data collection: metrics, logs, traces, and related protocols (OTLP, Prometheus Remote Write, syslog).
• Strong background in Go; Elastic Agent and Beats are Go-based.
• Experience designing management/control planes for distributed software, especially protocol-driven approaches like OpAMP.

Responsibilities

• Design a scalable architecture for the agent layer and lead architectural decisions.
• Provide technical guidance and code reviews to raise team quality.
• Gather requirements from stakeholders and align features with product management.
• Coordinate across teams to mitigate risks and adapt plans as needed.
