About the job: Senior System Administrator - LAMP

Software International (SI) supplies technical talent to Fortune 100/500/1000 companies in Canada. We currently have a long-term, renewable contract position for a Systems Team Lead with our IT consulting client, supporting North American clients with website and backend infrastructure services.

Role: Senior System Administrator

Location: Remote (anywhere in Canada/USA/South America, must be able to work on EST with the Canadian team)

Start Date: ASAP

End Date: 12 months + renewable annually

Type: Contract

Hours: 40h/week

Rate: $39 - 41/hr C2C CDN (approx. $60,000 - $62,000 USD)

Summary

Reporting to the System Team Lead, this Senior System Admin manages the technical operations, maintenance, and support of large-scale production websites and networks.

Responsibilities

• Manage and support LAMP environment
• Maintain vendor relationships for infrastructure
• Collaborate with Development and Project Teams for project management and release sign-off
• Participate in planning and discussions with Senior Management
• Assess and mitigate system risks
• Ensure network and system security
• Design system architecture including capacity planning and performance tuning
• Act as escalation point for production issues
• Manage risk, redundancy, and backups
• Provide technical support across departments
• Perform special projects as assigned

Requirements

• 5+ years experience with LAMP stack
• 2+ years management/leadership experience
• Support experience with web servers
• Strong SAN (NFS, iSCSI) background
• Experience with ELK stack and cluster management
• Knowledge of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF
• Hands-on Linux system administration
• Networking, routing, switching, security skills
• Problem-solving and documentation skills
• Experience with MySQL, LAN/WAN, VPN, firewalls, cloud tech, SAN, backup, security, automation tools
