Job summary

Hubbell Incorporated is seeking a Protection & Control engineer to deliver substation designs for transmission and distribution projects. You’ll produce drawing packages including one-line and three-line diagrams, DC schematics, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, and layouts using AutoCAD and MicroStation.

You will also support fault analysis, relay settings, and SCADA integration while collaborating with seasoned engineers to ensure high-quality, compliant designs and documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum five years of transmission and distribution protection and control experience.
• Experience with protection relays, SCADA, and related communication tech.

Responsibilities

• Translate customer specifications into complete, practical designs meeting all requirements.
• Develop one-line and three-line diagrams, DC schematics, wiring diagrams, cable schedules.
• Review and yellow-line diagrams for accuracy and design intent.
• Develop control panel and field wiring diagrams from approved schematics.
• Create site-specific one-line diagrams representing substation configuration.
• Update legacy substation diagrams to current project needs.
• Collaborate with designers/engineers to resolve issues and align deliverables.
• Lead intermediate-complexity projects, managing scope, schedule, and coordination.
• Develop RTU point assignments for monitoring and SCADA integration.
• Perform breaker control relay setting calculations and verify against specs.
• Identify process improvements to enhance quality and efficiency.
• Mentor P&C designers/engineers to promote best practices.
• Support customer site visits and contribute to technical scope documents.
• Travel to customer sites ~10% of the time for field investigations and coordination.
