Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Lead Substation Engineer to direct protection and controls design for HV/EHV substations. You will guide teams, develop relay philosophies, and oversee I/O assignments and diagrams.

The role includes coordinating with clients, vendors, and project managers, with opportunities for travel to client sites. Requires strong communication and a PE/P.Eng license and 10+ years in the field.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Engineering degree required.
• 10+ years experience in protection/control/telecommunications for HV substations.
• PE or P.Eng license.
• Experience coordinating with clients and vendors; lead engineer on projects.
• Experience with relay calculations and documentation.
• Familiarity with NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE, ANSI codes.

Responsibilities

• Lead an engineering and design team for substation modifications and upgrades.
• Prepare relay philosophies and configurations for relay, control, and communications equipment.
• Mentor junior and senior engineers in protection and controls design.
• Coordinate with project managers, clients and suppliers for timely design delivery.
• Perform drawings and calculations reviews and independent design checks.
• Travel to client/vendor sites for reviews and field verification.
