Job summary

Stantec in Vancouver is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to lead the structural design of buildings and industrial facilities. You will act as technical authority, mentor staff, and drive multi-disciplinary collaboration on complex projects.

The ideal candidate will hold P.Eng. in British Columbia with Struct. Eng designation, have extensive knowledge of NBC Canada and CSA codes, and possess advanced seismic design expertise supported by experience with SAP2000, ETABS, and Revit.

Qualifications

• Registered P.Eng. in British Columbia with a Struct. Eng. designation.
• A deep knowledge of the National Building Code of Canada and CSA codes (A23.3, S16, O86, S304).
• Seismic design expertise and proficiency with major structural software.
• Experience leading and reviewing work to meet budgets and schedules.
• Field reviews, construction administration, and client-facing communication.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams and foster collaboration.
• Proficiency with Revit and AutoCAD is preferred.
• Strong MS Office skills and professional communication.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior-level leadership in the structural design of buildings and industrial facilities.
• Serve as the technical lead on major projects, ensuring innovative, code-compliant solutions.
• Develop and review structural systems, design details, and engineering documentation.
• Direct and mentor a team of engineers and technologists; provide guidance and development support.
• Lead multidisciplinary coordination with internal teams, clients, contractors, and vendors.
• Participate in client meetings, requirements sessions, and value engineering discussions.
• Oversee project scope, budgeting, staffing strategies, and scheduling with project managers.
• Prepare, review, and coordinate project specifications with construction documents.
• Conduct constructability reviews and provide senior input during design and construction.
• Perform QA/QC across multiple projects and contribute to standards development.
• Support business development with proposal input and client engagement.
• Manage multiple concurrent projects while maintaining high technical and delivery standards.
