Job summary

Stantec Consulting International Ltd. in Calgary is seeking an Intermediate to Senior Stormwater Engineer for our Community Development group.

You will lead and mentor teams, supervise junior staff, and support business development while delivering stormwater design across municipal, transportation, and private site projects. The role emphasizes project leadership, client liaison, and technical delivery, including hydrologic analyses and CAD-based design.

Qualifications

• Thorough understanding of stormwater management principles for subdivision/private site development and transportation infrastructure.
• Experience leading design and project teams with fundamentals in project management.
• Relationships with private developers and municipal staff are assets.
• Knowledge of PCSWMM, AutoCAD; Civil 3D and GIS are assets.
• Self-motivated with strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational/time management abilities and prioritization.
• Registration or eligibility to register as a Professional Engineer with APEGA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise junior staff in the Stormwater Team, mentorship and career development.
• Support client and business development, including marketing materials and tools.
• Lead industry engagement efforts.
• Lead design teams on stormwater/drainage projects, including major infrastructure.
• Oversee designs with hydrologic analyses using PCSWMM and CAD.
• Develop and prepare design reports, plans/drawings, specs, and cost estimates.
• Guide projects from preliminary design to scheduling, tendering and construction.
• Conduct peer reviews and QC of documents and estimates.
• Assist in pursuits: proposals, scopes, teams, budgets and schedules.
• Liaise with clients, agencies to determine project requirements and permits.
