Job summary

Downtown AutoGroup in Toronto is seeking an Accounting Clerk to join our finance team at our state-of-the-art Autoplex. You will handle receivables and payables, maintain accurate records, and support month-end close in a fast-paced dealership environment.

The ideal candidate has a post-secondary accounting diploma, 1–2 years of experience, proficiency with CDK Global, Reynolds & Reynolds, and Excel, and a meticulous eye for detail.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 1–2 years of accounting experience.
  • Proficiency with accounting software (CDK Global, Reynolds & Reynolds) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Familiarity with standard accounting practices and the automotive industry.
  • Attention to detail, analytical thinking, time management, and strong communication.

Responsibilities

  • Process customer payments and manage accounts receivable promptly.
  • Monitor overdue accounts and pursue timely collections.
  • Reconcile customer accounts and resolve discrepancies.
  • Generate and distribute invoices and account statements.
  • Maintain organized financial records for audit purposes.
  • Review, verify, and process vendor invoices.

Here’s what you’ll be doing
  • Accounts Receivable (AR):
  • Process customer payments accurately and promptly.
  • Monitor and follow up on overdue accounts to ensure timely collection.
  • Reconcile customer accounts and resolve discrepancies efficiently.
  • Generate and distribute invoices and account statements.
  • Maintain accurate financial records for audit purposes.
  • Accounts Payable (AP):
  • Review, verify, and process vendor invoices.
  • Ensure timely payment of vendor bills while adhering to dealership policies.
  • Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies.
  • Manage the approval process for payment requests.
  • Prepare and process electronic transfers and payments.
  • Assist with monthly and year-end financial closings.
  • Support internal and external audits with necessary documentation.
  • Collaborate with the finance team to ensure best practices in financial operations.
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date financial filing systems.

You need these qualifications
  • Education: Post-secondary diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

  • Analytical Thinking: Capable of identifying trends, discrepancies, and providing solutions.
  • Time Management: Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a high-pressure environment.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with team members and customers.
  • Team Player: Positive attitude, willingness to collaborate, and assist colleagues when necessary.
