Job summary

Affirm is seeking aSenior Platform Engineer to architect and evolve our EKS-based Compute Platform in a remote-first setting across Canada. You will lead cluster provisioning, upgrades, and safety standards, while driving cost efficiency and automation.

You will mentor engineers and partner with diverse teams to scale our Kubernetes infrastructure. With 10+ years in infra engineering and deep Kubernetes experience, you will shape policy-driven, self-service workflows using Terraform, Spacelift,

Qualifications

• 10+ years in software or infrastructure engineering.
• 6+ years operating production Kubernetes at scale, ideally EKS on AWS.
• Proficient in Go or Python for production-grade tooling.
• Experience with IaC and GitOps-style pipelines.
• Ability to design and enforce platform standards across teams.

Responsibilities

• Architect and evolve the EKS platform across cluster lifecycle and node management.
• Lead provisioning, upgrades, and teardown via IaC and self-service workflows.
• Own reliability of shared components and CI/CD pipelines.
• Define workload safety standards including PDBs and isolation.
• Build automation to move standards from research to policy defaults.
• Establish observability, baselines, and risk reporting across teams.
• Collaborate with checkout, batch, ML, analytics, and DevProd teams.
• Drive cost and capacity strategy for node scaling and EC2 selection.
• Mentor Compute Platform engineers and participate in on-call rotations.
