The primary role of the Engineering function within the Product Development team is to create specifications and designs for new products or improvements to existing products. It works closely with customers, developers, and other stakeholders to understand and define customer needs. Features are aligned with a timetable and specific areas of responsibility. Developers may solicit customer feedback regarding product usability and future enhancements. Software Engineers who design, write, and test code should be matched with either Software Engineering Applications or Systems. Product developers specializing in hardware systems should be matched with Hardware Engineering.

• The primary objective of UX Design specialization within Engineering (PD) Job Family is to design solutions informed by user and business needs, aiming to create the best experience and product.
• Research is conducted to investigate user behaviors, needs, and preferences, driving solutions aligned with user goals.
• UX design teams also assess business needs, technology, and design trends to inform optimal product design solutions.
• The process is cyclical: design, test, iterate, ensuring solutions meet needs and uphold high standards of design and innovation. UX teams collaborate with other product development and engineering teams, as well as product management, to deliver solutions that meet strategic and user goals.
• Work involves specialized expertise, typically requiring a university degree or equivalent experience.
• Responsibilities may include:

1. Performing routine professional activities (early career)
2. Managing and contributing to projects (mid-career)
3. Providing advice and guidance in areas of expertise (specialist/expert)
4. Leveraging expertise to contribute to strategy and drive business results (principal)

Networking with contacts outside one's area of expertise.
