Job summary

AXIS Capital is seeking a Senior Software Engineer in Halifax to join the Exposure and Modelling Development team. You will design and deliver Azure-based solutions for reinsurance and enterprise risk, collaborating across IT to evolve modelling and exposure management systems.

You will mentor peers, own feature delivery from requirements to production, and advocate best practices including TDD and modern AI tooling. In-office role with a strong engineering culture and global collaboration.

Qualifications

• Backend development using the Microsoft/Azure stack (C#, SQL) with the proven ability to independently design and build new solutions from the ground up.
• Strong understanding of object oriented and functional programming paradigms.
• Experience in source code management (Git), continuous testing, and software delivery.
• Commercial experience of industry standards, best practices, and development methodologies.
• Real‑life experience with Agile methodologies.
• A test‑driven approach to developing software.
• Proficiency using AI tooling.

Responsibilities

• Lead overall solution design within the Exposure and Modelling Development team.
• Collaborate with Platform Engineering, DevOps and Data & Analytics teams.
• Mentor junior team members and own code quality from design through production release.
• Drive delivery of features end‑to‑end with a focus on reliability and scalable architecture.
