Job summary

QuantumBlack, AI by McKinsey in Toronto delivers AI-enabled software solutions for clients across industries. You will own architecture, define the technical direction for your workstream, and ensure the team builds scalable, production-grade systems while hands-on across the stack.

You will mentor client and internal teams, promote secure, reliable architectures, and accelerate AI adoption through collaboration with cross-functional teams and executive stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate or Master’s degree; or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience developing full-stack applications.
• Proficiency in multiple frontend/backend frameworks and languages including JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Angular, Next.js, Vue.js, Java, Spring, C#, or Node.js; SQL/NoSQL databases; cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP); and CI/CD tooling.
• Ability to design complex, secure APIs (REST/GraphQL) with scalability and maintainability.
• Experience with IaC, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud-native architecture.
• Advanced proficiency in AI-assisted engineering and managing AI-enabled systems.
• Experience architecting AI systems with LLM evaluation, guardrails, and validation methodologies.
• Security-first mindset including OAuth/OIDC authentication and secure development practices.
• Experience leading cross-functional engineering teams and fostering engineering culture.
• Exceptional time management in autonomous environments.
• Strong English communication skills (verbal and written).

Responsibilities

• Own architectural decisions and set technical direction for the workstream.
• Design scalable, production-ready AI-enabled systems across the full stack.
• Mentor client and internal teams to raise engineering craft.
• Collaborate with designers, product managers, and industry experts to deliver software solutions.
• Partner with clients from technical teams to C-suite executives to drive business value and AI adoption.
