Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC is seeking a Staff/Principal Software Engineer in Toronto to lead design and delivery of scalable distributed systems for AI/ML platforms. You will architect cloud-native solutions on AWS, mentor engineers, and collaborate with data science and product teams to build production-grade software.

Ideal candidates have 10+ years in software engineering, deep Java/Spring expertise, and strong experience with AI data pipelines and edge computing.

Qualifications

10+ years of software engineering experience.
Strong Java & Spring Boot experience.
AWS and distributed systems expertise.
Experience with AI/ML data pipelines or inference platforms.
Edge computing/CDN experience.
Experience using AI coding tools such as GitHub Copilot.
Strong architecture and system design skills.

Responsibilities

Design and build scalable distributed systems from concept through production.
Develop backend services and APIs using Java Spring Boot.
Build data processing pipelines supporting AI/ML inference and feature engineering.
Design edge computing and CDN-based solutions for low-latency processing.
Architect cloud-native solutions on AWS.
Define integrations with third-party platforms, APIs, and authentication services.
Establish best practices for system architecture, observability, scalability, and reliability.
Collaborate with Data Science, Product, and Engineering teams to deliver AI-enabled platforms.
Leverage AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering productivity.
Lead technical design discussions and mentor other engineers through hands-on development.
