Job description

The Senior Sales Rep (SSR) utilizes a consultative sales approach in selling Waste Management services to small and medium-sized accounts within an assigned territory. The SSR is responsible for prospecting and closing sales to meet revenue goals by developing effective selling strategies that promote growth.

This is an outside sales role that is Work from Home (WFH). It requires travel across the Calgary Area for client visits. Candidates must be physically located in Calgary to be considered.

II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.

  1. Prepares for and executes cold calls to influence potential commercial customers into setting appointments, presenting, and selling Waste Management services. Conducts pre-sales activities to understand customer needs, gather marketing materials, identify objections, and plan strategies.
  2. Facilitates follow-up meetings with prospects. Matches services with customer needs, demonstrates knowledge of pricing and competition, and communicates strategies effectively. Engages other Waste Management opportunities and refers internally as appropriate. Negotiates and closes sales by presenting alternatives and reaching mutually beneficial agreements.
  3. Prepares and delivers complex sales proposals.
  4. Conducts post-sale administrative work to ensure successful product/service implementation.

III. Supervisory Responsibilities

This role has no supervisory duties.

IV. Qualifications

The requirements listed below are necessary to perform the job. Must reside and work in Canada.

A. Education and Experience

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree (accredited), or High School Diploma/GED with four (4) years of business-to-business sales experience.
  • Experience: At least one (1) year of business-to-business sales experience beyond education requirements.
  • This is a field-based position eligible for sales compensation and recognition programs after training.

B. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements

  • None required.

Environmental and work conditions include occasional exposure to physical risks, dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes, and the need for physical effort. The typical work setting is an office or outside sales environment.
