Job summary

Extendicare is hiring a part-time Recreation Aide to assist in planning and delivering meaningful activities for residents. You will support program delivery, work with the Recreation Manager and team, and help maintain resident records and safety.

The role requires a college diploma in Recreation/Gerontology or equivalent, experience with seniors, and proficiency with Microsoft Office. A valid driver''s license and vulnerable sector check are preferred.

Qualifications

• College diploma in Recreation, Leisure Studies, Gerontology or equivalent.
• Previous experience working with seniors.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• An energetic, compassionate person who enjoys working with the elderly.
• Valid provincial driver''s license to transport residents by van (if required).
• Must provide a complete and current Vulnerable Sector Check or be willing to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, organization and implementation of meaningful programs for residents.
• Maintain records and assessments of planned programs detailing participation and outcomes.
• Communicate with residents, families, volunteers and staff about events.
• Attend in-service education to stay informed about elder care trends.
• Participate in team meetings to plan programs with residents'' interests in mind.
• Assist with meal services as required.
• Uphold Extendicare's Code of Conduct and values.
