Job summary

The Government of Alberta, located in Edmonton, is seeking a Senior Analyst for Prudential Supervision to lead regulatory activities across insurers and hold a key role in risk management and governance. This permanent full-time position runs 36.25 hours per week and is based in the Terrace Building, downtown Edmonton.

Applicants should have a related university degree and at least two years of experience in the insurance or financial sectors; professional designations are a plus.

Qualifications

  • University degree in a related field (business, accounting, finance, economics, or risk management) with at least two years of related work experience.
  • Related work experience includes insurance, financial analysis, accounting, analytics, or risk management.
  • Asset: professional accounting or insurance designations (CPA, CIP, FCIP, ACIA, FCIA) are advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Supervising solvency, governance, compliance, and risk management practices of insured entities under Alberta regulation.
  • Conducting examinations of regulated entities following a risk-based supervisory framework.
  • Reviewing capital management, reinsurance, investment, outsourcing, and other risk policies for insured entities.
  • Reviewing compliance with legislation and regulations; identifying non-compliance and proposing solutions.
  • Reviewing licensing changes and renewal of Financial Responsibility Cards through desk reviews.
  • Monitoring unlicensed insurance reporting compliance and assisting with examinations and onsite reviews.
  • Assisting with Recovery of Administration Costs regulation and invoicing across Alberta's insurance entities.
