Job summary

The Government of Alberta is seeking a Corporate Planning and Reporting Analyst in Edmonton. This permanent full-time role supports the Ministry of Assisted Living and Social Services with strategic planning, reporting cycles, and risk management within a centralized corporate planning framework.

Assisted Living and Social Services (ALSS) provides supports for seniors, families, and communities, and helps Albertans access disability services, continuing care, financial supports, affordable housing, services for the homeless, and other social-based programs. Corporate Finance and Accountability provides strategic financial advice related to legislation, regulations and policies. The division is responsible for developing the ministry’s budget and forecasts, preparing and implementing ministry financial reporting, financial compliance and accountability, contract policy and management, as well as financial processes and policies to support the delivery of programs. The division also develops and delivers provincial staff training, conducts internal audits and provides quality assurance oversight in addition to corporate planning and reporting services.

Role Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager of Corporate Planning and Reporting, the Corporate Planning and Reporting Analyst provides technical and analytical support, advice and recommendations to facilitate the timely and efficient production and implementation of the strategic planning and reporting cycle, including ministry-wide planning, monitoring and reporting of processes and documents with integrity and probity.
The Corporate Planning and Reporting Analyst position supports the Ministry through ongoing Enterprise Risk Management and supporting the maintenance of the Ministry Risk Register as directed by the Assisted Living and Social Services (ALSS) Government of Alberta Enterprise Risk Management Framework. This position also plays a key role in the tracking, monitoring, communications and reporting of the ministries red tape reduction targets as required by legislation.

  • Creative Problem Solving: Explores creative methods to complete work with a goal to achieve more efficient and effective outcomes; determines a recommended solution for an issue, based on evaluation of a breadth of data and variety of perspectives; applies problem solving skills to evaluate and articulate project plans and processes; and analyzes data inputs and sources to ensure consistency and accuracy of information and professionalism of work products.
Qualifications
  • University graduation in a related field such as Business, Management, and Information Technology.
  • 2 years of progressively responsible related experience in strategy and policy planning, research, and development.

Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:

  • 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; OR
  • 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.

Term of Employment: Permanent full-time position
Hours of Work: 36.25 hours per week/ Monday to Friday
Location: Edmonton
