Job summary

Aplin is seeking an Underwriting Operations Analyst in Edmonton, Canada. This role sits at the intersection of underwriting, technology, and transformation to ensure rules, pricing, and product updates are accurately reflected in core systems.

You will lead implementations, drive efficiencies, mentor junior analysts, and collaborate across teams to keep underwriting operations running smarter and cleaner. Hybrid work is available and a strong background in underwriting is required.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of underwriting experience.
  • Strong understanding of underwriting principles, products and pricing.
  • Technical aptitude with insurance systems (Guidewire or similar).
  • Experience improving workflows and driving cross-functional efficiencies.
  • Ability to mentor and support junior analysts.
  • Relevant post-secondary education.

Responsibilities

  • Lead underwriting operations projects through to implementation.
  • Test and validate underwriting rules, product updates, and pricing changes.
  • Drive process improvements and system efficiencies across underwriting workflows.
  • Serve as subject matter expert for underwriting systems and logic.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior analysts.
  • Liaise between business and technical teams to troubleshoot issues.
  • Work with Guidewire centers, broker management systems, and third-party quoting solutions.
  • Develop and deliver training content for underwriting systems.
  • Collaborate with leadership on strategy, reporting and planning.
  • Support regulatory reporting preparations as required.
  • Take on additional operational duties as needed.

In this role, you’ll sit at the intersection of underwriting, technology, and transformation, helping ensure underwriting rules, product updates, and pricing changes are accurately built into core systems. You’ll lead implementations, improve processes, mentor junior analysts, and partner across teams to keep underwriting operations running smarter, faster, and cleaner across the enterprise.

Qualifications

Required

  • 5+ years of underwriting experience
  • Strong understanding of underwriting principles, products, and pricing
  • Technical aptitude with experience working in insurance systems (Guidewire or similar)
  • Experience improving workflows, driving efficiencies, and partnering cross-functionally
  • Ability to mentor and support junior analysts
  • Relevant post-secondary education
  • Personal Property and Farm experience preferred
  • Guidewire experience
