Job summary

Alberta Health Services seeks a Protective Services Officer II to ensure safety for patients, visitors, staff and AHS property. You will monitor violence, enforce statutes, conduct investigations, prepare evidence, and act as a first responder to critical events with a focus on trauma-informed practices.

The role requires a High School diploma or equivalent, eligibility for Community Peace Officer appointment, a valid Class 5 driver’s license, and completion of the induction program.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Active (or eligible) for appointment as a Community Peace Officer with enforcement duties involving the public.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence.
  • PARE completed (within 6 months prior to employment).
  • Fluency in multiple languages and public speaking experience are assets.

Responsibilities

  • Provide security and protective services for patients, visitors, staff and AHS property.
  • Monitor violence, enforce laws, conduct internal investigations and prepare court documents.
  • Engage in risk assessment, hazard identification and first-responder duties during critical events.
  • Collaborate with care teams to promote trauma-informed, inclusive care.
