Job summary

Vancouver Island Health Authority is seeking a Protection Services Officer to uphold security for patients and staff across multiple Vancouver Island sites in British Columbia. Reporting to the Team Leader Protection Services, you will enforce policies, ensure safety, and may travel between sites; a BC Security Guard License with handcuff endorsement and a BC Driver's license are required.

• Grade 12 and completion of recognized Basic and Advanced Security Training certifications.
• Intermediate First Aid (OFA II) plus one year of recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Holds a valid BC Security Guard License with applicable handcuff endorsement.
• Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and enforce security of persons and property according to policies and procedures.
• Support patient and staff safety as a priority and contribute to quality and safety improvements.
• Travel between multiple sites may be required; operate a motor vehicle if needed.
• Report to Team Leader Protection Services and take appropriate action to ensure safety.

Job Description

Reporting to the Team Leader, Protection Services, the Protection Services Officer maintains and enforces security of persons and property in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Travel may be a requirement of this position. If applicable, transportation arrangements must meet the operational requirements of the Vancouver Island Health Authority in accordance with the service assignment and the incumbent must be able to operate a motor vehicle.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education, Training And Experience

Grade 12, successful completion of recognized Basic and Advanced Security Training certification, Intermediate First Aid (formerly OFA Level 2) plus one year of recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
