Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced Protection & Control Technician to test, commission, and troubleshoot protection systems across transmission and distribution assets. You will work with SEL relays and substation automation, interpreting complex schematics and protection philosophies while coordinating field activities and safety practices.

The role requires 3–5 years of relevant experience, strong diagnostic skills, and the ability to communicate technical results to customers and engineering

Qualifications

• Diploma or equivalent in Electrical Engineering Technology or related field.
• 3–5 years in protection and control testing, commissioning, or maintenance.
• Strong knowledge of protective relays, AC/DC schematics, relay logic and protection principles.
• Experience commissioning transmission or distribution protection schemes.
• Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and customer communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Test, commission, troubleshoot protection and control systems for transmission, distribution, generation, and industrial facilities.
• Perform relay testing and functional verification on microprocessor-based platforms.
• Interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, protection philosophies, and specs.
• Lead field activities during outages and commissioning projects.
• Prepare procedures, reports, and corrective-action recommendations.
• Communicate findings to customers and project teams.
