Job summary

Jobtailor in Canada is seeking a Protection and Control Technician to test, commission, and troubleshoot protection and control systems across transmission, distribution, generation, renewable energy, and industrial facilities.

You will perform relay testing on SEL and other microprocessor-based platforms, interpret schematics, analyze fault data, and lead field activities during outages and commissioning projects while ensuring safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

Requires hands-on experience testing and commissioning protection and control systems.
NETA certification and safety trainings are required.
Proficient in interpreting AC/DC schematics and relay logic.
Ability to lead field activities and communicate with customers and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Test, commission, maintain protection and control systems for transmission, distribution, generation, renewable energy, and industrial facilities
Perform relay testing, logic verification, functional testing, and commissioning on SEL and other microprocessor-based relay platforms
Interpret AC/DC schematics, relay logic, wiring diagrams, protection philosophies, and technical specifications
Lead field activities during outages, maintenance programs, and commissioning projects
Prepare test procedures, technical reports, deficiency documentation, and corrective-action recommendations
Communicate technical findings and project updates to customers, engineering teams, and project stakeholders
Review work and provide technical guidance and on-the-job training to junior technicians
Perform all work in accordance with company, customer, quality, and safety requirements
