Job summary

Jobtailor in Canada is seeking a field-service engineer to test, commission, and troubleshoot protection and control systems for transmission, distribution, generation, renewable energy, and industrial facilities.

You will perform relay testing on SEL platforms, interpret schematics, analyze fault records, and lead field activities during outages and commissioning projects, communicating findings to customers and engineering teams.

Qualifications

Experience testing, commissioning, or maintaining protection and control systems.
Strong knowledge of protective relays, AC/DC schematics, and protection principles.
Ability to interpret schematics and relay logic and to document findings clearly.
Willingness to travel across Canada and work overtime when required.
Registration or eligibility for ASTTBC and NETA certification preferred.

Responsibilities

Test, commission, and troubleshoot protection and control systems for substations and industrial facilities.
Lead field activities during outages and commissioning projects, ensuring safety and quality.
Prepare test procedures, reports, and corrective-action recommendations.
Communicate technical findings to customers, engineering teams, and stakeholders.
Mentor junior technicians and provide on-the-job training.
