Job summary
Shermco Canada seeks a Protection and Control Technician IV to lead field testing, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of complex protection and control systems across British Columbia. You will act as the technical authority, guide project teams, and ensure safe, reliable delivery on critical infrastructure projects.
The role requires seven years of related experience, a diploma in a relevant discipline, and advanced relay/substation automation knowledge.
Qualifications
- Diploma or equivalent in Electrical Engineering Technology or related field.
- 7+ years in protection and control testing, commissioning and troubleshooting.
- Advanced relay and substation automation knowledge.
- Experience leading major substation projects and mentoring teams.
- Strong communication and customer-facing skills.
Responsibilities
- Lead testing, commissioning, startup, maintenance and troubleshooting of complex protection and control systems.
- Serve as the lead field technician on major substations and energy projects.
- Test advanced protection schemes and oversee outage planning and verification.
- Diagnose relay, SCADA, and control-system issues and verify technical accuracy.
- Mentor technicians and support safety, quality, and schedule requirements.
