Job summary

Shermco Industries is seeking a Protection & Control Technician III for field-based work across British Columbia, Canada. You will test, commission, maintain, and troubleshoot complex protection systems, lead field activities, and guide junior technicians.

Strong relay knowledge and safety emphasis are essential. The role requires travel across BC, with a focus on delivering high-quality results for utilities, industrial facilities, and energy projects.

Qualifications

• Three to five years of protection and control testing, commissioning, or maintenance experience.
• Strong knowledge of protective relays, AC/DC schematics, relay logic, and protection principles.
• Ability to independently manage assigned field work while meeting safety, quality, schedule, and customer requirements.

Responsibilities

• Test, commission, maintain, and troubleshoot protection and control systems.
• Perform relay testing and functional testing on microprocessor-based relays.
• Lead field activities during outages and commissioning projects.
• Prepare test procedures, technical reports, and corrective-action recommendations.
• Communicate findings and updates to customers and teams.
• Provide guidance and training to junior technicians.
