Job summary

Shermco Canada is seeking a Protection & Control Technician III for field-based work across British Columbia. You will independently test, commission, maintain, and troubleshoot complex protection and control systems, lead field activities, and mentor junior technicians.

This role requires a diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology or related, 3–7 years of experience, and strong relay knowledge. Travel and a valid driver’s license are essential, with relocation not required.

Qualifications

• Diploma or equivalent in Electrical Engineering Technology or related field.
• 3–7 years of protection and control testing, commissioning, or maintenance experience.
• Strong knowledge of protective relays, AC/DC schematics, and protection principles.

Responsibilities

• Test, commission, maintain, and troubleshoot protection and control systems across facilities and projects.
• Lead field activities during outages and commissioning projects.
• Prepare technical reports, procedures, and corrective-action recommendations.
• Communicate findings to customers, engineering teams, and stakeholders.
• Review work and mentor junior technicians to ensure safety and quality.
