Job summary

StandardAero in Winnipeg seeks a Senior Propulsion Engineer to provide propulsion system engineering and configuration management for the RCAF CP140 Aurora fleet. The role sits on-site in Winnipeg, delivering airworthiness support and technical guidance to the local team.

The engineer will perform propulsion analysis, data-driven troubleshooting, and support across maintenance shops at MOBs, ensuring reliability and readiness with comprehensive documentation.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience supporting aircraft maintenance.
  • University degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
  • Working knowledge of transport aircraft propulsion systems.
  • Ability to obtain Canadian Secret Clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Act as Senior Design Engineer for the RCAF-ATO, with airworthiness authority duties.
  • Provide technical support to CP140 flight line operations from Winnipeg on-site at MOBs.
  • Support Engine bay, structures, and propeller shops at MOBs.
  • Perform propeller, engine and accessory performance analysis.
  • Develop and review Deviations, Non-Standard Repairs and Maintenance Changes.
  • Investigate maintenance defects and preinstallation failures.
  • Analyze data for fleet management and propose follow-on actions.
  • Contribute to Value Engineering Change Proposals and technical reports.

StandardAero is presenting an exciting and challenging opportunity for a Senior Propulsion Engineer. This individual provides Propulsion System Engineering and Configuration Management services in support of the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) fleet of CP140 Aurora Aircraft.

Located in Winnipeg, this role provides technical support to local StandardAero team to ensure cost, quality, and output levels meet desired targets. Investigates and resolves issues of propulsion system engineering,

What You’ll Do
  • Acting as Senior Design Engineer (SDE) for the StandardAero RCAF-Accredited Technical Organization (ATO). The SDE is responsible for the airworthiness-related activities conducted within the ATO. To perform this airworthiness management role, the SDE requires the assignment of technical airworthiness authority by the Technical Airworthiness Authority (TAA). As a designated representative of the TAA, the SDE shall ensure that the airworthiness-related activities of the ATO are performed in compliance with airworthiness rules and standards. The SDE may also perform technical airworthiness functions on behalf of the TAA.
  • Provide technical support to RCAF CP140 flight line operations (from Winnipeg and on site) at RCAF Main Operating Bases (MOBs): Comox, and Greenwood.
  • Provide technical support to RCAF 2nd line maintenance shops (from Winnipeg and on site) at the MOBs supporting Engine bay, structures shop, and propeller shops.
  • Performs propeller, engine and accessory performance analysis and troubleshooting.
  • Provides interpretation and clarification of maintenance data (i.e. Instructions for Continued Airworthiness).
  • Performs Technical Information Reviews and incorporates amendments into production; develops, reviews, and approved Deviations, Non-Standard Repairs, Maintenance Program Changes, Special Technical Instructions, Modifications, etc. as required.
  • Investigates and responds to maintenance defect and preinstallation failure investigations.
  • For fleet management purposes, perform data analysis, trending, and propose follow on actions.
  • Develops Value Engineering Change Proposals.
  • Provides written or verbal technical advice for members of the RCAF; produces reports relating to product serviceability, repair summaries, warranty, failure analysis, product configuration, and Risk Assessments.
Required Qualifications
  • A minimum of 5 years experience supporting aircraft maintenance.
  • University degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
  • Working knowledge of transport aircraft propulsion systems.
  • Ability to obtain Canadian Secret Clearance will be a requirement.

  • Experience with RCAF airworthiness processes is a definite asset.
