Job summary

StandardAero in Winnipeg (Manitoba) is seeking a Service Engineer to support the maintenance, repair and overhaul of gas turbine engines used in power generation. You will assemble/disassemble engines and prepare process documents, ensuring compliance with customer requirements and regulatory standards.

You will drive continuous improvement, prepare reports, and coordinate with shop technicians and customers while applying your engineering expertise.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of gas turbine engine theory is considered an asset.
  • Strong planning, organizational, analytical and communication skills are expected.
  • Knowledge of aerospace materials and processes is advantageous.
  • Experience with Failure Modes and Effects Analysis or Measurement Systems Analysis is a plus.
  • Experience in an aerospace or manufacturing process engineering environment is beneficial.
  • Ability to clearly convey technical instructions orally and in writing.

Responsibilities

  • Review customer technical and contractual data and communicate engine work scope to the shop floor.
  • Ensure correct engine configuration and that service bulletins and airworthiness directives are performed.
  • Generate engine condition reports for customers and assist with estimating and invoicing.
  • Create First Article Inspection Reports to ensure conformance to standards.
  • Participate in MRB and evaluate nonconforming material for repair options.
  • Generate and maintain Shop Orders, Work Instructions, and overhaul data revisions.
  • Drive continuous improvement projects to optimize turnaround times, safety, and quality while reducing costs.
  • Observe all safety requirements and report unsafe practices or conditions.
  • Carry out other duties and special projects as assigned.

Service Engineer

As a Service Engineer, you’ll have responsibility to support our organization’s ability to maintain, repair and overhaul gas turbine engines used in power generation applications. A Service Engineer’s role is to focus on engine and module assembly and disassembly, along with associated special processes required as part of the engine overhaul process. This includes conveying technical work scope information from the customer to the shop technicians and developing required process documentation. Service engineers are responsible for ensuring that the engine work scope meets customer expectations for reliability, performance and configuration. They are also responsible for driving continuous improvement events in their areas to improve shop efficiency, safety, and quality. Within all these tasks, Service Engineers help ensure our compliance to relevant regulatory and customer contractual requirements.

What You Will Do
  • Review customer required technical and contractual data and develop and communicate engine work scope direction to the shop floor.
  • Ensure correct engine configuration, and that required service bulletins & airworthiness directives are performed.
  • Generates engine condition reports for presentation to customers and assists other aspects of estimating & invoicing.
  • Generates First Article Inspection Reports to ensure that newly introduced product conform to the required standards.
  • Participates in component Material Review Boards (MRB) and evaluates nonconforming material for possible repair options to return to service.
  • Generates and maintains Shop Orders, Work Instructions, Temporary Overhaul Data Revisions, and other Documents used to convey process instructions to the shop technicians.
  • Drive continuous improvement projects aimed at optimizing turnaround times, enhancing workplace safety, and improving quality while reducing operational costs and environmental impact.
  • Responsible for observing all applicable safety requirements and reporting immediately any unsafe practices/conditions.
  • Carry out other duties and special projects as assigned.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering, or Mechanical Engineering Technologist Diploma; or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of gas turbine engine theory is an asset.

  • Thorough knowledge of aerospace materials and processes.
  • Knowledge and experience in Failure Modes and Effects Analysis and/or Measurement Systems Analysis.
  • Experience in an aerospace or manufacturing process engineering environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and an ability to clearly convey technical instructions both orally and in writing.
