Job summary

StandardAero invites an Engineer to contribute to aviation engineering projects, investigating engine issues and supporting repairs. You will work across departments, resolve technical questions, and drive continuous improvement while adhering to safety and regulatory standards.

The position emphasizes collaboration with global teams, ongoing learning, and involvement in engine maintenance and troubleshooting in a production environment at multiple facility areas.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent experience as determined by leadership.
  • Eligibility for Engineers PEI membership.
  • Ability to work in office and production environments; extended computer work.
  • Willingness to walk between facility areas and wear safety footwear.
  • Eligibility to work in Canada on a permanent basis.
  • Knowledge of CARs/FAA regulations and mechanical aptitude in engine maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Generate work scope instructions for engines removed prematurely or needing extended maintenance.
  • Conduct root cause investigations and prepare technical reports for OEMs, customers, and regulators.
  • Review non-conforming products, provide dispositions, and drive improvements.
  • Provide troubleshooting and technical support for engines meeting test requirements.
  • Support Machine Shop, Process Shop, Engine Shop, and Inspection areas resolving technical questions.
  • Develop and publish repair instructions for conditions not in OEM manuals.
  • Act as liaison with OEMs and subcontract vendors to resolve engine issues.
  • Review OEM manuals before release and prepare ATDR sheets to address gaps.
  • Make Service Bulletin recommendations and implement technical changes.
  • Lead continuous improvement activities (RCA, VSM, Lean, Six Sigma, 5S) while complying with safety standards.

As an Engineer, you’ll develop your technical expertise in a safe, supervised environment while supporting engine investigation, repair, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement activities. As you gain experience, you’ll take on increasing responsibility and autonomy in resolving technical issues and supporting our operations, customers, and global teams.

What you’ll do:
  • Generate work scope instructions for engines removed prematurely from service or requiring expanded maintenance due to unforeseen conditions.
  • Conduct root cause investigations and prepare technical reports for the OEM, customers, and regulatory authorities, including Transport Canada.
  • Review non-conforming products, provide technical dispositions, monitor trends, and initiate process reviews or continuous improvement activities.
  • Provide troubleshooting and technical support for engines that do not meet test requirements.
  • Support the Machine Shop, Process Shop, Engine Shop, and Inspection areas by resolving technical questions and concerns.
  • Provide technical support for customer on-wing engine issues through Customer Service and other internal teams.
  • Support satellite shops and sister companies globally in resolving engine-related technical issues.
  • Develop and publish repair instructions for conditions not currently addressed in OEM manuals.
  • Act as a technical liaison with OEMs and subcontract vendors to resolve engineering and engine-related issues.
  • Review and approve applicable OEM manuals before release to technicians and prepare Atlantic Technical Data Revision (ATDR) sheets to address identified errors or gaps.
  • Make Service Bulletin recommendations for engine modifications and support the implementation of applicable technical changes.
  • Participate in and lead continuous improvement activities, including Root Cause Analysis, Value Stream Mapping, Lean, Six Sigma, and 5S initiatives, while following applicable quality, health, safety, and environmental requirements.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from a recognized institution, or equivalent experience as determined by the Director of Engineering.
  • Membership or eligibility for membership with the Association of Professional Engineers of Prince Edward Island (Engineers PEI).
  • Ability to work in an office and production environment, including extended periods working at a computer and at various locations throughout the facility.
  • Ability and willingness to walk between various areas of the facility throughout the workday and wear required safety footwear.
  • Eligibility to work in Canada on a permanent basis.
Desired Characteristics:
  • Knowledge of Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations.
  • Mechanical aptitude and an interest in aircraft engine maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong commitment to quality and public safety.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team while managing deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with Navixa, Airsoft, digital cameras, and photo software.
  • Familiarity with quality policies, procedures, and continuous improvement methodologies.
