Job summary

McRae Integration Ltd. (Actemium) in Ontario seeks a Senior Project Manager to drive major projects in production and manufacturing. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering or related discipline.
• 10+ years in strategic and tactical project management in industrial beverage, brewing, packaging, or life sciences.
• Experience with bulk materials handling CIP and related processes.
• Ability to communicate across all levels of a manufacturing organization.

• Knowledge of CSA/ESA safety and electrical standards.

Actemium Toronto is an established leader in controls integration, project management, and engineering services for a wide range of clients in a variety of industries. The main industries we support include but are not limited to Food & Beverage, Brewing, Life Sciences and Energy industry. This is a full-time permanent role reporting directly to the Director of Project Services.

Responsibilities

The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for supporting the execution of projects for various customers within a variety of production and manufacturing industries. Their objectives will be to ensure work is completed safely, on time, on budget and meeting the stated project deliverables. The Senior Project Manager will demonstrate the ability to work autonomously, taking initiative to drive projects forward while embracing opportunities for progression, variety, and continuous learning within the business. Assignments will consist of projects within Ontario with the potential of projects to be located across Canada and the USA. Travel to customer sites is expected and the incumbent must be comfortable working at customer sites for varying amounts of time. The primary responsibilities of the role will be but are not limited to:

• Support the project team to complete Life Cycle Project Management of projects ranging from 50M – 120M.
• Gather Project Requirements: based on requests and information that has been provided by the customer.
• Establish Design Specifications: establish conceptual design parameters. Participate and coordinate meetings with the customer and equipment vendors to outline solutions and finalize the complete design.
• Clarify Project Deliverables: solidify the outcome of the project: i.e., what equipment will be in place; what technical requirements need to be met, etc.
• Create Project Budget: in partnership with the customer obtain official approval to invest an exact amount of capital funds. Budget creation through the gathering and prudent assessment of estimates provided by 3rd party vendors and/or contractors.
• Create Project Schedule Timelines & Milestones from Start to Finish: ensure all equipment and services can be purchased, scheduled, and implemented in alignment to meeting the official launch date. Contact all vendors to obtain lead-times of equipment and services from the point of PO (purchase order).Create the skeleton model of the primary project task list with specific deadlines in alignment to ‘key’ project milestones.
• Create, Issue & Award Tenders: 3-step process with the last step (award) typically done as a joint venture with the customer and their purchasing department (e.g., price negotiation, SLA’s etc.)
• Overall Execution: organize and manage all installation activities i.e., dates of equipment delivery; identifying each step for installation; project schedule attainment; managing and updating project plan, keeping key stakeholders abreast of any changes to the plan, etc.
• Construction Management: on-site management when all equipment arrives, and the contractors are on site. Daily supervision of all contractors and overall site activities is required.
• Start-Up & Commissioning: go-live point where all equipment has been installed and now ready to begin production. Work with the vendors and provide hands-on technical assistance to troubleshoot equipment being commissioned.
• Final Acceptance & Project Closure: assist in the site acceptance tests to ensure all equipment and systems meet the performance guarantees originally committed to as part of the equipment supplier contract agreements.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering or related discipline.
• 10+ years of strategic and tactical project management experience in industrial beverage or brewing manufacturing, bakeries, high speed packaging of consumer goods, heavy industrial and/or pharmaceutical life science industries.
• Diverse experience in bulk materials handling CIP (filtration, utilities & services, filling and packaging, cartoners and case packers, palletizers).
• Diverse technical process systems understanding, complimented with a keen eye and willingness to dive into the details and trouble shoot, where appropriate, to ensure system performances are measured and achieved.
• Must have the ability to effectively interact with and communicate to all levels of a manufacturing organization – shop floor to board room.
• Exceptional project, time, and priority management skills.
• Strong leadership, negotiation, meeting facilitation, and conflict resolution skills.
• Strong understanding of regulatory requirements for electrical and safety systems i.e., CSA, ESA, etc.
• Excellent comprehension of construction work and its safety requirements.
• Excellent English communication skills (verbal and written).
• Ability to work with a local team of professionals, internally and externally to ensure the execution of customer projects is successfully completed to the customer’s satisfaction.
• Valid G class driver’s license and personal transportation to travel to customer job sites.
• PMP Certification and/or P. Eng Designation (an asset).
• In depth Knowledge of instrumentation, controls and automation, Rockwell Allen-Bradley (an asset).
• Experience working with SAP and SharePoint (an asset).
• French communication skills (verbal and written) (an asset).

About your working environment

• Travel is required within Ontario, Canada and outside of Canada.
• Will be required to wear protective equipment in designated areas such as hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel toed safety boots.
• May be exposed to cold, heat and humidity, loud noise levels, and dust.
• Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
• Overtime as required.

Compensation

Base pay: $115,000 – $135,000. The final compensation offered will be determined based on the candidate’s level of experience, skills and qualifications. We look at compensation for each individual and base our offer based on your unique qualifications, experience, and expected contributions. This position may also be eligible for other types of compensation in addition to base salary, such as variable bonus and/or stock bonus.
