Job summary

Intertek in Mississauga, ON is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to lead engineering services within the Building & Construction team. The role manages regulatory compliance projects for building products and assemblies, coordinating with certification programs and external industries.

You will evaluate regulatory requirements for Canada and the US, prepare technical documents, and drive QA processes while liaising with clients and accreditors to resolve issues.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, or related field.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in technical writing, regulatory compliance, and familiarity with TIC industry.

Responsibilities

  • Develop knowledge of building codes and product standards; witness testing in lab.

Senior Project Engineer - Engineering Services

Intertek is searching for a Senior Project Engineer, Engineering Services to join our Building & Construction team in our Mississauga, ON office. This is a fantastic opportunity to grow a versatile career in the Testing, Inspection, and Certification (TIC) Industry!

The Senior Project Engineer, Engineering Services is responsible for managing complex projects related to regulatory compliance of building products and/or assemblies, direct involvement in Intertek certification programs, and engagement with various external industries and technical associations.

What You’ll Do
  • Develop in-depth knowledge and understanding of building codes and related product standards by research and review. This includes witnessing testing at the laboratory to see the product standards in action.
  • Work on engineering evaluations for regulatory compliance in Canada and US markets for both standardized and innovative building materials/assemblies
  • Prepare technical and certification documentation derived from test results and evaluations.
  • Help write compliance research reports, create Listing reports through Intertek's certification program, and manage QA programs
  • Perform audits and product sampling at client manufacturing facilities.
  • Collaborate closely with sales, laboratory, and technical teams to support seamless project execution.
  • Manage assigned projects from initiation to completion, ensuring quality, accuracy, and timely delivery with continuous communication with clients.
  • Participate actively in industry committees, standards development activities, and technical association meetings.
  • Interact with clients, accreditors and/or Authority Having Jurisdiction to resolve any matters
  • Promote new business opportunities
  • Perform other work as required such as Project reviews.
  • Perform billable projects
What It Takes To Be Successful In This Role
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, or a related field
  • Minimum of five years of experience in technical writing, regulatory compliance, and familiarity with the testing, inspection, and certification industry
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent leadership and team building skills
  • Must be able to work independently in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams
  • Microsoft Office software expertise
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Be able to travel within Canada and USA
  • P.ENG required
Salary & Benefits Information

The salary range for this position is $90,000 - $130,000 per year. Individual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons. In addition to competitive compensation packages, Intertek employees are eligible for a variety of benefits including paid time off, paid holidays, medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, RRSP with company match, tuition reimbursement and more.
