Job description

Procurement Manager / Senior Manager

Full-Time | Permanent

Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid / Flexible)

A leading professional services organization is seeking an experienced procurement professional to take ownership of a growing procurement function and help shape how procurement operates across the organization.

This is a unique opportunity for someone who brings strong procurement expertise but is also comfortable being hands‑on. Rather than stepping into a highly established procurement environment with rigid processes already in place, this role will allow you to build on an existing foundation, introduce structure and best practices, and help develop the function as the organization continues to grow.

You will work closely with senior leadership and stakeholders across the organization, providing visibility into vendors, contracts, spend, renewals, negotiations, and procurement opportunities.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of procurement best practices, but equally important is the ability to adapt those practices to a professional services environment. This is an opportunity for someone with a business‑minded approach who can identify opportunities, provide recommendations, and build consensus without creating unnecessary bureaucracy.

Why Join
  • Take ownership of a growing procurement function and help shape its future direction
  • Have significant visibility and interaction with senior leadership
  • Build on an existing procurement foundation and take the function to the next level
  • Establish practical procurement processes, reporting, and best practices
  • Gain exposure across technology, professional services, corporate services, and other areas of organizational spend
  • Work closely with senior stakeholders across the business
  • Have the opportunity to identify and implement meaningful process improvements
  • Join an established and sophisticated professional services organization
  • Strong opportunity for long‑term career growth as the procurement function continues to evolve
  • Flexible hybrid environment in Toronto
Key Responsibilities
Procurement Strategy & Function Development
  • Take ownership of the organization's procurement function and help define its ongoing direction
  • Build upon existing procurement processes, policies, and practices
  • Introduce appropriate structure and governance while maintaining a practical, business‑focused approach
  • Develop procurement best practices that are tailored to the organization's needs
  • Identify opportunities to improve procurement processes, controls, and overall efficiency
  • Provide insights and recommendations to senior leadership regarding procurement opportunities and priorities
Vendor Management & Strategic Sourcing
  • Manage and develop relationships with key vendors and third‑party service providers
  • Lead sourcing initiatives, RFPs, negotiations, and vendor selection processes
  • Establish consistent approaches for evaluating and selecting vendors
  • Review existing vendor relationships and identify opportunities for consolidation, renegotiation, or improvement
  • Monitor vendor performance and ensure appropriate expectations and service standards are established
  • Support the organization in making informed purchasing and vendor decisions
Contract Management
  • Oversee the organization's contract management processes and provide greater visibility into contractual commitments
  • Track key contracts, renewal dates, vendors, and upcoming obligations
  • Support negotiations and contract renewals
  • Identify opportunities to improve contract terms, service levels, performance requirements, and commercial arrangements
  • Establish practical standards for third‑party service provider agreements
  • Work closely with internal Legal, Compliance, Finance, and other stakeholders on contractual and procurement matters
  • Leverage contract management technology to improve visibility and organization
Procurement Reporting & Analytics
  • Develop reporting and dashboards that provide leadership with greater visibility into procurement activity
  • Maintain visibility into vendors, contracts, spend, and upcoming renewals
  • Analyze organizational spend and identify areas for potential savings or improved commercial terms
  • Provide regular updates and insights to senior management
  • Identify areas where proactive negotiations or procurement activity may be required
  • Use data to support procurement recommendations and business decisions
Risk, Compliance & Governance
  • Partner with internal Compliance, Legal, Finance, and other stakeholders to identify and manage vendor‑related risks
  • Establish appropriate procurement controls and approval processes
  • Help ensure third‑party relationships are appropriately evaluated and documented
  • Develop practical standards around vendor selection, contracts, performance, and risk
  • Balance appropriate governance with the need to maintain an efficient and flexible business environment
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
  • Act as the face of procurement across the organization
  • Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders and business leaders
  • Partner with Technology, Finance, Legal, Compliance, Operations, and other departments
  • Understand stakeholder requirements and develop practical procurement solutions
  • Communicate procurement recommendations clearly and effectively
  • Build consensus and encourage adoption of new processes and best practices
  • Serve as a trusted advisor on procurement‑related matters
What You Bring
  • 5+ years of progressive procurement experience
  • Strong experience across vendor management, strategic sourcing, RFPs, negotiations, and contract management
  • Experience developing or improving procurement processes and functions
  • Strong understanding of procurement best practices and governance
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong senior presence and the ability to interact confidently with leadership
  • Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of a function
  • A hands‑on approach with the ability and willingness to execute as well as provide strategic guidance
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
  • Ability to identify opportunities, make recommendations, and drive improvements
  • A practical, business‑oriented mindset rather than an overly rigid approach to procurement
  • Strong judgment and the ability to determine where additional process or governance will add value
Career Opportunity

This position is well suited to a Procurement Manager or Senior Manager who is looking for an opportunity to take ownership of a function and have a meaningful impact on how procurement operates within an organization.

You will not simply be maintaining an established procurement model. You will have the opportunity to assess what is currently in place, identify opportunities for improvement, introduce practical best practices, and help build a procurement function that can scale with the organization.

The successful candidate will bring the right balance of strategic thinking and hands‑on execution. You should enjoy working with people, solving problems, improving processes, and being the person stakeholders turn to when they need procurement expertise.

A professional services background is advantageous, but the ability to understand the business, adapt your approach, and build strong internal relationships is equally important.

Compensation & Benefits

A competitive compensation package is being offered, with a base salary in the range of $120,000-$150,000, depending on experience, along with a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for professional growth.

This is an excellent opportunity for a procurement professional who wants to move beyond traditional procurement responsibilities and take ownership of a function with significant visibility, autonomy, and long‑term growth potential.
