Job summary

Employment Professionals Canada is seeking an experienced Procurement Manager for a permanent direct-hire role at a manufacturing company in Ontario. The candidate will lead the procurement team, manage raw materials, hardware and supplies, and ensure alignment with internal and external customer requirements.

You will drive sourcing decisions, negotiate contracts, analyze costs and lead continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • 4 years of high school plus 2 years of post-secondary education and/or PMAC or APICS.
  • Approximately 6–10 years of related business experience.
  • Experience in manufacturing procurement and supplier negotiations.

Responsibilities

  • Implements and delegates workloads for procurement of materials and supplies.
  • Plans and controls program activities per MRP and master schedules.
  • Provide purchasing guidance on cost, schedules and quality.
  • Negotiate contracts and supplier terms to meet delivery and cost targets.
  • Develop short and long range purchase plans and supplier quotes.
  • Resolve procurement schedule issues and supplier performance gaps.
  • Prepare RFQs/RFPs and evaluate supplier proposals.
  • Monitor inventory and control stock rooms.

Job description

A manufacturing company is looking for an experienced Procurement Manager to join their team. This is a permanent direct hire position. Ideal candidates will be looking for a position with long -term employment and growth potential.

Job Responsibilities
  • Implements and delegates workloads throughout the Procurement Team for the purchasing of raw materials, hardware, equipment, office and operating supplies to meet internal and external customer requirements.
  • Plans, directs and controls program activities in accordance with MRP, Master Schedules and program review meetings.
  • Provide purchasing guidance involving cost, schedules and quality within the framework of Company policies/procedures throughout every level of the Organization.
  • Ensure team incorporates and negotiates changes on a timely basis for all procurement activities.
  • Initiate corrective action and vendor corrective actions as required.
  • Evaluate supplied proposals and implement proper contracts, sub-contracts and purchase order agreements with emphasis on quality, costs, delivery and performance.
  • Select proper sources with consideration of the urgency and complexity of requirements.
  • Provide the availability of flexible sources of supply, assuring maintenance of lead times, supplier accommodation to changing requirements, new material sources, realistic prices consistent with material values and product costs.
  • Develop short and long range plans for all purchases involving sequential planning of dates and time for supplier quotes, competitive bids, lead times and delivery schedules.
  • Investigate and resolve issues with procurement schedules, requirements and changes.
  • Perform cost, price and value analysis with cross-functional teams as required.
  • Ensure team prepares Requests for Quotes and Requests for Proposals to meet the needs of the organization.
  • Interviews sales personnel/supplier representatives providing best value to the company.
  • Participates in estimating and pricing activities, including bills of material and proposals.
  • Develop production plans, priority schedules and implement change controls on manufacturing, fabrication and assembly operations.
  • Analyze appropriate Internal Purchase Requests (IPR's) and order issue requirements to meet internal and external demands.
  • Determine material, parts and supplier shortages.
  • Control assigned stock rooms and inventories.
  • Responsible for Receiving Department and associated personnel.
  • May perform other related duties as required by the company.

Responsibility Involved: Establish, plan, organize and control policies, procedures and methods within the department; maintain relationships with customers, contractors, vendors, general public; may be responsible for other employees. Monitor personnel throughout the procurement floor area.

Job Working Conditions

Involves a busy working environment with frequent contacts throughout the day; accuracy and problem solving are critical; involves decisive action and decision making in conjunction with senior company official; critical thinking in examining procedures, for formulating policy and or developing and implementing new strategies and procedures.

Skills needed

Able to plan and organize work; formulate and establish policy; develop and implement strategies and procedures; analyze/reason/resolve problems; motivate self and others; maintain integrity of systems; perform conflict resolution; multi-task.

Education / Experience Requirements

Equivalent 4 years high school plus completion of 2 years of post secondary education and/or PMAC or APICS or other Professional Development Associations. Approximately 6-10 years of related business experience.

Salary: $90K to $100K, based on experience.
