Job summary

KIT Recruitment is partnering with a well-established food manufacturing organization in the Halton Region to recruit an experienced Procurement Specialist. This stand-alone procurement position offers ownership and the opportunity to build strong supplier relationships while negotiating effectively and identifying cost savings.

The successful candidate will manage day-to-day purchasing across various operational categories, support continuous improvement, and collaborate with Operations,

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive procurement or purchasing experience.
  • Food manufacturing experience strongly preferred; CPG or similar environments may be considered.
  • Strong experience in supplier negotiation, vendor management, pricing, and cost reduction.
  • Comfortable managing the complete purchasing process, including creating and issuing purchase orders and procurement administration.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify problems, source alternatives, and present solutions and recommendations to leadership.
  • Strong initiative with a continuous-improvement and solutions-focused mindset.
  • Experience identifying cost savings and improving procurement processes.
  • Inventory control experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day purchasing across packaging, consumables, sanitation supplies, PPE, maintenance equipment and parts, transportation/services, and other operational requirements.
  • Source, evaluate, and qualify suppliers while developing strong vendor relationships.
  • Obtain competitive quotations and negotiate pricing, terms, service levels, and commercial agreements.
  • Create, issue, and manage purchase orders, ensuring accuracy of pricing, quantities, specifications, and delivery requirements.
  • Monitor supplier performance and proactively resolve pricing, quality, availability, delivery, and service concerns.
  • Identify alternative suppliers and sourcing solutions when operational or supply challenges arise.
  • Analyze purchasing activity to identify cost-saving, consolidation, and process-improvement opportunities.
  • Support inventory control initiatives to improve visibility, purchasing levels, and product availability.
  • Identify inefficient or outdated procurement practices and recommend practical solutions to leadership.
  • Work closely with Operations, Maintenance, Quality Assurance, Finance, Logistics, and other departments to understand purchasing requirements.
  • Help develop more consistent, centralized, and efficient procurement processes as the organization continues to evolve.
  • Support improvements to ERP and purchasing systems where required.
  • Take ownership of procurement priorities while responding effectively to changing operational needs.

Job description

KIT Recruitment is partnering with a well-established food manufacturing organization in the Halton Region to recruit an experienced Procurement Specialist to support their growing operations.

This is a stand-alone procurement position for a seasoned professional who enjoys taking ownership, building strong supplier relationships, negotiating effectively, and finding smarter ways to get things done.

The successful candidate will manage purchasing across a variety of operational categories while helping to strengthen processes, improve purchasing leverage, identify cost savings, and support continuous improvement. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is proactive, solutions-focused, and excited to make a visible impact within an evolving manufacturing environment.

  • Location: Halton Region, ON
  • Hours: Monday-Friday, 7am-4pm (flexibility required)
  • Hybrid: Up to 2 days working from home following successful completion of training/probation

Procurement Specialist – Responsibilities

Procurement Specialist – Qualifications
  • Ideally 5+ years of progressive procurement or purchasing experience.
  • Food manufacturing experience is strongly preferred; CPG or other fast-paced manufacturing environments may also be considered.
  • Strong experience in supplier negotiation, vendor management, pricing, and cost reduction.
  • Comfortable managing the complete purchasing process, including creating and issuing purchase orders and handling procurement administration.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify problems, source alternatives, and present solutions and recommendations to leadership.
  • Strong initiative with a continuous-improvement and solutions-focused mindset.
  • Experience identifying cost savings and improving procurement processes.
  • Inventory control experience is considered an asset.
  • ERP implementation or system-change experience is considered an asset.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with ERP/purchasing systems, Microsoft Office, and Excel.
  • Outgoing and collaborative, with the ability to build strong relationships with suppliers and internal teams.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and comfortable taking ownership of a stand-alone procurement function.
  • Able to work independently while partnering closely with Operations and other departments.
  • Comfortable working within an evolving environment with significant opportunity for process improvement.
  • Post-secondary education in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field is considered an asset.
  • CSCP or CPIM designation is considered an asset.
