Job summary

Axxel HR is assisting a client in Toronto to recruit a strategic Procurement Manager. You will lead policy creation and continuous improvement of procurement processes, driving end-to-end RFPs and supplier selections to optimize value.

You will partner with stakeholders, negotiate favorable terms, manage supplier relationships, and track cost savings while aligning purchasing with business priorities in a hybrid, fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field is required.
  • 4–6 years of experience in procurement, sourcing, or purchasing.

Job description

Our client is currently looking for an experienced Procurement Manager to join their growing organization and play a key role in building and strengthening their procurement function.

This is an exciting opportunity for a procurement professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and wants to have a direct impact on purchasing strategy, supplier relationships, cost optimization, and business growth.

Reporting to the Director of Finance, you will work closely with stakeholders across the organization to ensure purchasing decisions align with business priorities, deliver strong value, and effectively manage supplier and contractual risk.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve procurement policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Lead end-to-end RFP and sourcing initiatives, from gathering business requirements through supplier evaluation and selection.
  • Identify, assess, and select suppliers based on quality, cost, reliability, service levels, and overall business fit.
  • Lead contract and commercial negotiations to secure competitive pricing and favourable terms.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to understand procurement requirements, priorities, budgets, and timelines.
  • Analyze procurement and supplier data to identify cost-saving opportunities, supplier consolidation opportunities, and process improvements.
  • Manage ongoing supplier relationships, including contract renewals, performance reviews, issue resolution, and escalations.
  • Monitor supplier performance and ensure agreed-upon service levels and contractual obligations are maintained.
  • Partner with Finance on budgeting, forecasting, spend planning, and procurement-related reporting.
  • Establish greater visibility and consistency across organizational spending and supplier management.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
  • Support the organization in implementing scalable procurement practices as the business continues to grow.
What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, or a related field.
  • 4–6 years of experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, purchasing, or a similar function.
  • Experience working in a technology, SaaS, professional services, or other fast-paced corporate environment is an asset.
  • Strong experience managing RFPs, strategic sourcing initiatives, and supplier selection processes.
  • Demonstrated success negotiating contracts, pricing, commercial terms, and service agreements.
  • Solid knowledge of procurement best practices, contract management, and supplier relationship management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to use data to support purchasing decisions.
  • Experience identifying and delivering cost savings and procurement efficiencies.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with Finance and cross-functional teams.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple priorities.
  • Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of projects from start to finish.
  • Strong business judgment and the ability to balance cost, quality, risk, and operational requirements.
  • Proficiency with procurement, ERP, contract management, or other business systems is an asset.
  • Comfortable using modern technology and AI-enabled tools responsibly to improve efficiency and decision-making.
