Job summary

Altis Technology in Toronto, ON, is seeking a seasoned procurement professional for a 3-month contract to lead procurement activities from planning through contract administration, ensuring transparency, fairness, compliance, and value.

You will work with internal stakeholders, suppliers, consultants, and a collaborative Purchasing and Operations team to solve complex procurement challenges and strengthen procurement practices that support accountable public service.

Qualifications

  • 13 years of relevant procurement experience with a university degree.
  • Pursuing or currently obtaining a recognized professional purchasing designation.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement practices, principles, sourcing processes, negotiation techniques, and cost-breakdown analysis.
  • Experience applying public sector procurement policies and resolving pre- and post-contractual issues.
  • Knowledge of contract law related to proposals, tenders, negotiations, risk management, legislation, regulatory requirements, and jurisdictional codes.
  • Strong relationship-building, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with internal groups to understand procurement needs and recommend appropriate sourcing strategies.
  • Review technical specifications, delivery requirements, costs, and supplier availability to determine the right procurement approach.
  • Prepare tender and proposal specifications, evaluate submissions, and support the award of tenders, quotations, and proposals.
  • Liaise with consultants and contractors regarding scope, pricing, specifications, and contractual terms.
  • Execute and administer contracts, purchase orders, change orders, and related procurement documentation in accordance with established policies.
  • Monitor supplier performance and contractual compliance, helping resolve disputes and escalating issues when required.
  • Stay current on procurement, technology, economic, and marketplace trends and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Skills and Qualifications

  • You're working toward or currently obtaining a recognized professional purchasing designation through an established supply chain or public procurement association.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement practices, principles, sourcing processes, negotiation techniques, and cost-breakdown analysis.
  • Experience applying public sector procurement policies and resolving pre- and post-contractual issues.
  • Knowledge of contract law related to proposals, tenders, negotiations, risk management, legislation, regulatory requirements, and jurisdictional codes.
